Gee! How did that happen? In some ways it was an accident--it wasn't what I really set out to do. I was going to be a lawyer. Really. I planned my entire life from the time I was 2 to be a lawyer (my family figured I'd be a furniture mover, but that's a different story). But when the time came to write the LSAT, I realized it wasn't the path I wanted to take at the time. Part of it involved a man, part of it involved a friend going through the process and me not liking what I was seeing. So, left turn into right field I went.
After a brief trip, and a whirlwind cram course on publishing, I looked around and realized Alberta was full of small (=not hiring) small presses. But being young I figured "Well, I'll just start my own. How hard could it be?" Little did I know. But 15 years later, we're still here, and still publishing. When we started it was hard to find authors, now there's just too many good stories out there. Deciding which to publish can be a challenge.
I love fantasy and science fiction, and that's why we publish it. It's not the only genre I love, but I always come back to it. Where else could you enter a world so richly populated with myth and mystery, with love and aliens and everything in between?
